PTA Chairman Visits Telenor Group HQ in Norway to Explore 5G, AI, and Spectrum Management Models

Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Major General (Retired) Hafeezur Rehman, paid an official visit to Telenor Group’s headquarters in Norway during his participation in the UN Internet Governance Forum. The visit is part of ongoing efforts to advance digital transformation and enhance telecom regulatory practices in Pakistan.

During the visit, the chairman held high-level meetings with Telenor Group’s Chief Financial Officer and the Group Head of External Relations, People and Strategy. Discussions focused on regulatory frameworks, cross-border digital collaboration, and future-facing telecom strategies.

PTA’s statement highlighted that the chairman was briefed on 5G and artificial intelligence (AI) use cases, including applications in healthcare, smart mobility, and urban infrastructure. He also participated in a session examining spectrum allocation models in Nordic countries, aiming to identify best practices for efficient and sustainable spectrum management in Pakistan.
