Space42, the UAE-based AI-driven SpaceTech company specializing in satellite communications, geospatial analytics, and AI, has announced the commercial launch of the Thuraya Mobile Broadband Hotspot (Thuraya MBH). This lightweight, secure, and affordable broadband terminal extends critical communications for users operating in remote environments across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia.
With growing demand for seamless connectivity, many land and maritime regions remain outside terrestrial network coverage, risking delayed emergency responses and disrupted operations. Thuraya MBH addresses this by delivering reliable satellite connectivity via the existing Thuraya satellite network and will support the upcoming Thuraya-4 satellite, one of the most advanced mobile satellite systems.
Sulaiman Al Ali, Chief Commercial Officer of Space Services at Space42, highlighted that Thuraya MBH ensures uninterrupted communication in environments beyond terrestrial reach, serving civil government and commercial users alike. The terminal supports secure communications for emergency response teams, maritime vessels, border security, and remote utility operations, maintaining stringent security standards vital for mission-critical applications.
Designed for operational simplicity and rugged field performance, Thuraya MBH supports satellite connectivity for vehicles and vessels with minimal setup. Its use cases include push-to-talk communications, email, file transfer, IoT monitoring, and fleet management. The terminal meets IP67/IP68 durability standards and features tracking, geofencing, distress alerts, multi-level access controls, and firewall protection.
Offering affordable data plans and a user-friendly interface with 15 language options, Thuraya MBH integrates with external systems to enable asset management in mobile and remote environments. An emergency fallback feature allows text-based email transmission when networks are unavailable.
Thuraya MBH became available through authorized Thuraya service partners starting June 19, 2025, marking a significant step in Space42’s leadership in Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) and secure global connectivity.
