The London Internet Exchange (LINX) announced plans to extend its partnership with Digital Realty into West Africa by establishing its new internet exchange point (IXP) in Ghana. The LINX Accra IXP will be hosted at Digital Realty’s upcoming ACR2 data centre in Accra, which is nearing completion.
Located near key submarine cable landing stations in downtown Accra, the ACR2 facility will enable LINX to provide low-latency, resilient internet connectivity in the region. This new IXP marks LINX’s third African location, following the launches of LINX Nairobi in 2023 and LINX Mombasa in early 2025, both developed in collaboration with Kenyan data centre operator iColo, acquired by Digital Realty’s Interxion unit in 2019.
Joseph Koranteng, Managing Director of Digital Realty Ghana, described LINX Accra as a “key milestone” that will strengthen interconnection across Africa. He added, “As demand for low-latency connectivity grows, this collaboration will help shape the region’s digital future by improving access, resilience, and integration with the global internet fabric.”
