Posts, Telecommunications and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar announced that more than 300,000 young men and women will secure jobs within the next few years through 28 hi-tech parks currently under construction outside Dhaka.
During a visit to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-Tech Park project in Rajshahi, the minister stated that approximately 14,000 youths will find employment through this park alone, which aims to significantly boost the regional economy via technology-based jobs.
The Rajshahi Hi-Tech Park, spanning 31 acres in the Bulanpur area and costing an estimated Tk 231 crore, is expected to be completed by December 2021, positioning Rajshahi as a hub for technology.
Minister Jabbar explained that the park will foster industries in ICT, engineering, electronics, telecommunications, and biotechnology, generating new employment opportunities for ICT professionals.
The initiative aligns with the broader goal of building Digital Bangladesh by expanding high-tech industries, developing hardware and IT sectors, and creating a conducive environment to attract foreign companies, which will provide technological support to local industries.
The minister urged officials to expedite the project’s construction according to design specifications. ICT Secretary Ziaul Alam, Rajshahi Division Commissioner Nur-Ur-Rahman, and Deputy Commissioner Abdul Kader accompanied the minister during the visit.
