Pakistan’s Mobile Phone Imports Decline by Over 16% in First Eleven Months of Fiscal Year 2024-25

Pakistan has seen a 16.31 percent decrease in mobile phone imports during the first eleven months of the 2024-25 fiscal year compared to the same period last year. According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the country imported mobile phones worth $1.356 billion between July and May 2024-25, down from $1.620 billion during July-May 2023-24.

The drop in imports was even steeper on a year-on-year basis for May 2025, which saw a 35.83 percent decline compared to May 2024. Mobile imports for May 2025 totaled $101.131 million, compared to $157.592 million in May 2024.

Month-on-month data reveals a 19.61 percent reduction in mobile imports in May 2025 compared to April 2025’s $125.103 million.

While mobile phone imports fell, Pakistan’s overall merchandise exports increased by 5.15 percent during the same eleven-month period, rising from $28.117 billion to $29.564 billion. Meanwhile, total imports increased by 7.50 percent, growing from $49.815 billion to $53.550 billion, reflecting broader trade dynamics beyond mobile devices.
