The Internet Service Provider Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) has put forward seven demands to safeguard local entrepreneurs, including the introduction of a floor price to set a minimum internet tariff, the adoption of active sharing among providers, and ensuring ISPs retain control over customer-level connections.
These demands were outlined during a workshop titled “Draft Telecom Reform Policy: Challenges of the ISP Industry,” organized by the Telecom and Technology Reporters Network, Bangladesh (TRNB) at Raowa Complex, Mohakhali, Dhaka.
The workshop featured a welcome speech by TRNB General Secretary Masuduzzaman Robin and was moderated by ISPAB President Samir Kumar Dey.
Key ISPAB demands include fixing both floor and ceiling internet prices, setting a minimum package price at Tk 800 for 50 Mbps speed, and introducing active sharing to enhance service quality and reduce internet costs effectively.
