Mobile Phone Subscriptions in Egypt Near 120 Million in 2024 Amid 5G Rollout and Rising Internet Usage

Mobile phone subscriptions in Egypt reached nearly 120 million in 2024, alongside a more than 10% increase in mobile internet usage compared to the previous year, official figures reveal.

The year also witnessed the launch of several new services, including embedded SIM cards (eSIM) and Wi-Fi Calling, aimed at ensuring continuous connectivity even in remote areas without additional user costs.

Egypt granted its first 5G network license at the start of 2024, and by year-end, all mobile network operators had secured licenses as part of a broader national strategy to accelerate digital infrastructure development and boost competitiveness.

In collaboration with mobile operators, the government has devised a phased 5G deployment plan, initially focusing on major cities, key transport corridors, and strategic economic zones.

This coordinated effort ensures the country benefits from advanced technologies to drive development and enhance national competitiveness.
