ICANN Relocates Annual General Meeting from Muscat to Dublin Amid Middle East Tensions

ICANN has announced the relocation of its Annual General Meeting (ICANN84) from Muscat, Oman to Dublin, Ireland due to escalating tensions in the Middle East, including conflict between Israel and Iran. The decision follows recent disruptions such as Qatar’s temporary airspace closure after an Iranian attack on a U.S. base.

While ICANN affirmed that Oman remains a safe host country, concerns over ongoing and potential future airspace closures prompted the move. The organization emphasized the importance of securing a stable venue well ahead of planning deadlines to avoid a remote-only meeting format and ensure robust attendance.

The meeting dates remain unchanged, with the event scheduled to take place in Dublin from October 25 to 30, 2025.
