Bangladesh marked a significant milestone in its journey toward becoming a deep-tech innovation hub by hosting the first-ever Biotech, Electronics, AI, and Robotics (BEAR) Summit alongside the Bangladesh National Semiconductor Symposium 2025. The two-day event took place at the National Science and Technology Complex in Dhaka, organised by the ICT Division and Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under the EDGE Project.
Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb inaugurated the summit, highlighting initiatives such as the Digital Public Infrastructure, National AI Policy, and a natural intelligence-based AI model in Bangla aimed at empowering youth and entrepreneurs entering the semiconductor sector. The summit brought together academia, industry, and global tech experts, reflecting Bangladesh’s ambition to evolve into a knowledge-based economy powered by frontier technologies.
University Grants Commission member Professor Md Saidur Rahman emphasized the role of higher education reforms under the HEAT Project and ICSETEP initiative to meet the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Leading universities such as Dhaka University, BUET, and Jashore University participated actively.
The summit featured panel discussions, workshops, and exhibitions with over 2,500 attendees—including students, professionals, and international participants. Companies like Neural Semiconductor Limited, Ulkasemi, and THiNK Global Limited showcased their innovations. A government-formed Semiconductor Taskforce has proposed a strategic roadmap focusing on skills development, business environment, policy support, and global partnerships, identifying chip design and testing/packaging as near-term goals and full-scale manufacturing as a long-term vision.
