Cisco to Modernize Bahrain’s Government Networks in $17 Billion US-Bahrain Partnership

Cisco Systems has signed a major agreement to upgrade Bahrain’s government telecommunications and information networks, marking a key part of a sweeping $17 billion partnership between Bahraini and US companies. Announced during Bahrain’s crown prince’s visit to Washington, the deal underscores Bahrain’s ambitions to establish itself as a leading tech hub in the Gulf.

The comprehensive investment package spans sectors including technology, aviation, industry, and finance, emphasizing digital infrastructure as a catalyst for economic growth. A highlight of the initiative is the development of an 800-kilometer multi-fiber submarine cable that will link Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq to global networks, further enhancing regional connectivity.
