Moroccan Startup Ora Raises $7.5 Million Series A to Expand Food Delivery and Mobile Wallet Services

Casablanca-based Ora has secured $7.5 million in Series A funding to scale its two flagship consumer platforms: the food delivery app Kooul and the mobile wallet Ora Cash. Led by Azur Innovation Fund and joined by three strategic local investors, this round brings Ora’s total local fundraising since January 2023 to $11.9 million.

Founded in 2023 by Omar Alami, Ora focuses on digitizing everyday transactions for Moroccan consumers through independent products. Ora Cash enables users to open accounts in seconds and send money instantly for free. Within five months, the startup onboarded over 50,000 users, including delivery riders who use the wallet to transition cash-on-delivery payments into digital transactions without disrupting their workflows.

Kooul, Ora’s food delivery service, serves more than 15,000 active customers less than a year after launch, growing rapidly by offering a fairer economic model for riders and restaurants, especially in underserved urban areas.

Omar Alami expressed pride in the local investor commitment and hopes this milestone encourages Moroccan founders to raise more capital domestically.

The new funds will accelerate Ora’s last-mile delivery capabilities and strengthen its digital cash collection infrastructure. The company also aims to pursue growth opportunities both within Morocco and internationally.

This Series A follows a $1.9 million Pre-Series A round led by Witamax and Azur Innovation Fund just four months prior.

Omar highlighted increasing venture capital interest in Morocco’s tech ecosystem, bolstered by support from the Moroccan Sovereign Fund, Fonds Mohammed VI pour l’Investissement.
