Telkom Indonesia’s Telin Opens New Cable Landing Station in Kalasey for Bifrost Subsea System

Telkom Indonesia’s international subsidiary, Telin, has inaugurated a new cable landing station (CLS) in Kalasey, Minahasa, marking its second landing point for the Bifrost subsea cable system that links North America and Southeast Asia.

Following the completion of Telin’s Jakarta CLS last year and the landing of Bifrost cables at both stations, the Manado-Minahasa CLS is now fully ready to be activated and integrated into Telkom’s network. The facility features advanced, scalable infrastructure and robust front-haul connections, enabling support for multiple submarine cable systems.

Telin CEO Budi Satria Dharma Purba highlighted that the new CLS will support Bifrost and future cables, fostering greater connectivity, innovation, and economic growth across the Asia-Pacific region.

The 19,888-km Bifrost cable, developed by Telin, Keppel Midgard Holdings, Meta, and Amazon, connects the US and Mexico to Singapore via landing points in Guam, Indonesia, and the Philippines. It offers a designed capacity of 10.4 Tbps. Telin owns all 12 fiber pairs at the Jakarta branch and two of six at the Manado branch.

After facing several delays, the Bifrost cable system is expected to commence service in Q3 2025.
