RTA and e& Launch Free Wi-Fi on All Intercity Buses Connecting Dubai and Neighboring Emirates

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in collaboration with telecom provider e&, has successfully installed free Wi-Fi across all 259 intercity buses, enhancing connectivity for thousands of daily commuters traveling between Dubai and other emirates including Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, and Fujairah. Passengers can now enjoy complimentary internet access on smartphones, tablets, or laptops throughout their journey.

This initiative aims to improve the commuting experience by allowing passengers to work, stay connected, or browse the web while traveling. The rollout supports the UAE Digital Government Strategy and aligns with RTA’s broader digital transformation goals. It also contributes to Dubai’s vision of becoming the world’s smartest and happiest city.

“The service will undergo continuous assessment in collaboration with e&,” said the RTA, adding that future expansions—including potential Wi-Fi access on marine transport—are under consideration. By integrating technology into public transportation, the RTA seeks to increase passenger satisfaction and promote sustainable travel options.

This upgrade further strengthens Dubai’s leadership in smart urban mobility and digital infrastructure.
