Government Forms Committee to Review Draft Telecom Policy 2025

The government has established a committee to review the draft Telecommunication Network and Licensing Regime Reform Policy 2025. Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud will chair the committee, which also includes Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin, and Special Assistant to Chief Adviser Faiz Ahmed Taiyeb, responsible for the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology.

The committee’s mandate includes analyzing the background of the proposed policy and assessing its potential short-, medium-, and long-term impacts—both intended and unintended. This evaluation will cover financial, macroeconomic, technical feasibility, and legal enforcement aspects.

The committee may co-opt additional members and invite relevant officials, experts, or stakeholders to participate as needed. Meetings will be convened as required, supported administratively by the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology.
