Kuwait’s Healthcare Sector Advances with Major Infrastructure Projects and Vision 2035 Goals

Kuwait’s healthcare system has evolved into a model of excellence, driven by sustained leadership commitment and a national strategy aligned with Kuwait Vision 2035. The Ministry of Health is executing a comprehensive plan to expand hospital capacity, upgrade healthcare centres, and integrate advanced technologies to deliver efficient, high-quality, and accessible medical services.

Key ongoing and recently completed projects include:

  • New Maternity Hospital in Sabah Medical Zone: Built to international standards, this facility focuses on women’s health and neonatal care, featuring advanced medical technologies and energy-efficient design.
  • Al-Sabah Hospital: Under construction, this 88,710 sqm self-sufficient complex includes three towers with 512 inpatient beds, 105 intensive care beds, 72 outpatient clinics, a helipad, and integrated medical departments.
  • Communicable Diseases Hospital: A 74,000 sqm facility with 224 beds, emergency care, radiology, pharmacy, and support services.
  • Kuwait Cancer Control Centre: Spanning 303,536 sqm, this centre comprises two towers with 618 beds, equipped with automated systems and infrastructure for specialised cancer care.
  • New Al-Adan Hospital Complex: Comprising seven interconnected buildings, including maternity and paediatrics hospitals, surgical and central services, rehabilitation centre, health district administration, parking, and storage facilities.

The Ministry is also enhancing international cooperation, attracting global expertise, and investing in workforce development through training, scholarships, and partnerships to build a skilled healthcare workforce prepared for future challenges.

These initiatives underscore Kuwait’s dedication to fulfilling Vision 2035’s objectives by strengthening healthcare infrastructure, improving quality, and ensuring sustainability for the long-term wellbeing of its population.
