As part of the Saudi-Syrian Investment Forum in Damascus, Etihad Salam Telecom Company (Salam) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Syria’s Ministry of Communications and Technology to accelerate the development of Syria’s digital infrastructure and enhance access to high-quality telecommunications services.

The agreement focuses on establishing IP Points of Presence (IP Nodes PoPs) in Damascus and Aleppo. These nodes will enable Salam to provide reliable local and international Tier-1 connectivity, supporting Syria’s digital transformation and technological advancement ambitions.

Salam’s participation underscores its dedication to regional knowledge-sharing and the application of global best practices in telecommunications and ICT. Founded in 2005, the company has established a strong reputation for innovation and leadership in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.

At the forum, Eng. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih emphasized the collaborative efforts between Saudi Arabia and Syria in telecommunications and ICT. He highlighted ongoing initiatives to strengthen cybersecurity and develop advanced systems in AI, data centers, programming, and education, with investment agreements valued at approximately SAR 4 billion.

Abdullah AlRufaidi, Salam’s Vice President of Wholesale and Carrier Relations, stated, “We aim to leverage our successful business model to deliver scalable, reliable telecom services that empower Syria’s digital infrastructure and economic growth.”

This initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader vision to promote regional digital integration, infrastructure readiness, and sustainable technological progress through strategic partnerships, fostering deeper cooperation with Syria based on innovation and shared development.
