Bangladesh TowerCo Association Launched to Champion Telecom Policy Reform and Industry Collaboration

Bangladesh’s four licensed tower companies have officially formed the Bangladesh TowerCo Association, a unified platform to enhance industry coordination, advocate for policy reforms, and strengthen regulatory engagement. The launch took place at the TowerCo Build Forward Forum 2025 under the theme “Unifying TowerCo for a Smarter Bangladesh,” gathering infrastructure leaders to set priorities for a resilient, efficient, and future-ready telecom ecosystem.

Participants welcomed the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission’s (BTRC) proposed National Infrastructure and Connectivity Services Provider (NICSP) framework as a progressive step, while underscoring the urgent need for its effective implementation. Persistent challenges such as energy theft, site acquisition delays, and insufficient indoor coverage infrastructure like DAS and IBS were highlighted as barriers that could hinder digital inclusion without coordinated policy action.

BTRC Chairman Major General (Retd) Md Emdad Ul Bari, the forum’s Chief Guest, stressed cross-sector collaboration and transparency in advancing the digital economy, emphasizing the importance of setting and monitoring KPIs for existing players under the 2025 reform policy.

TowerCo leaders echoed calls for regulatory clarity and ecosystem alignment to attract sustainable investment. EDOTCO Bangladesh’s Country Managing Director, Sunil Issac, noted that such alignment could lower digital access costs and accelerate national coverage. CEOs of Frontier Towers and Summit Towers urged faster permitting, reliable energy solutions, and improved co-location incentives to foster shared infrastructure growth.

Industry strategists from Ericsson Bangladesh and EDOTCO Group highlighted Bangladesh’s potential to capitalize on 5G, AI, and smart infrastructure advancements. Compared to regional peers, they emphasized that strategic infrastructure sharing, automation, and innovation are crucial to achieving cost-effective and sustainable growth amid rapidly expanding digital services.

The forum concluded with a collective commitment to build a reform-driven, investor-friendly, and innovation-oriented TowerCo ecosystem to power Bangladesh’s digital future.
