Saudi Ports Authority Launches ‘AR2 Asia Red Sea’ Shipping Service to Boost Jeddah Port Connectivity

The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) announced the launch of the new shipping service ‘AR2 Asia Red Sea,’ operated by Wan Hai Lines Company, at Jeddah port. This initiative aims to enhance Saudi ports’ global competitiveness, facilitate seamless trade flow, expand commercial opportunities, and improve operational efficiency.

The new service will link Jeddah port to 10 key regional and international ports, including Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha, and Shekou in China; Port Klang in Malaysia; Aqaba in Jordan; Sokhna and Alexandria in Egypt; and Izmit and Kumport in Turkey. It offers a total capacity of 3,700 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).

Mawani highlighted that this development aligns with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which strives to position Saudi Arabia as a global logistics hub connecting three continents while boosting national exports.

Jeddah Islamic Port, the largest on the Red Sea coast, is strategically located and equipped with 62 multipurpose berths. It plays a pivotal role in cementing Saudi Arabia’s leadership in the maritime sector regionally and internationally.
