Jordan Phosphate Mines Company and Arab Potash Company Sign Deal to Build Industrial Fertilizer Complex

The Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) and the Arab Potash Company (APC) have signed an agreement to establish an integrated industrial complex for producing phosphoric acid, purified phosphoric acid, and specialized fertilizers. The complex will be located in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone and Al Shediyeh, according to a joint statement from the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The agreement was signed by JPMC Chairman Mohammed Thneibat, APC Chairman Shihadeh Abu Hdeib, and CEOs Abdul Wahab Rawwad and Maen Nsour. The project represents a strategic partnership between Jordan’s leading mining companies and supports the Kingdom’s Economic Modernisation Vision, particularly in the chemical and fertilizer sectors.

The new facility will emphasize value-added manufacturing, focusing on purified phosphoric acid—a critical ingredient in specialty phosphate and potash fertilizers—as well as products used in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics industries. The initiative marks a strategic shift from exporting raw materials to advanced downstream processing and manufacturing, aimed at increasing local added value and strengthening Jordan’s industrial base.

This complex is expected to boost Jordan’s competitiveness in regional and global fertilizer markets, diversify industrial exports, and align with global agricultural and food security trends. The project will also generate direct and indirect employment opportunities, with training and professional development programs planned for Jordanian engineers and technicians.
