Kuwait to Host Four Chinese Delegations to Boost Infrastructure and Development Cooperation

Kuwait is preparing to receive four official delegations from major Chinese state-owned enterprises next month to explore investment and partnership opportunities in infrastructure, logistics, and other critical development sectors. The announcement was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah at Bayan Palace.

Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, Ambassador Sameeh Johar Hayat, stated that official communications with China are progressing rapidly. The delegations will discuss cooperation in areas including Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port, renewable energy, low-carbon waste recycling, public housing, wastewater treatment, and free economic zones, along with joint efforts to combat desertification.

Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah highlighted Kuwait’s commitment to large-scale development projects and the strengthening of strategic economic ties with China. He cited positive economic growth and foreign investment as evidence that the country is on the right path.

A recent Kuwaiti technical delegation from the Ministry of Public Works was scheduled to visit China to advance a wastewater treatment initiative. The meeting also included senior officials such as Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya, Housing Minister Abdullatif Al-Meshari, and Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Dr. Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem.

In telecommunications, Kuwait’s Minister of State for Communications Affairs, Omar Al-Omar, met with Chinese Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Liu Xiang to discuss deeper cooperation and a proposed memorandum of understanding. The dialogue emphasized aligning initiatives with Kuwait’s national strategic goals. Liu praised Kuwait’s leadership of the Digital Cooperation Organization and invited Minister Al-Omar to the upcoming PartNIR Forum focused on Fourth Industrial Revolution partnerships.
