Cloudflare’s Q2 2025 Global Internet Trends report highlights key shifts in web traffic and cybersecurity patterns worldwide. The company blocked an average of 190 billion cyberthreats daily, marking a 21% year-over-year (YoY) increase despite a 23% quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) decline following earlier surges. Daily internet requests surged to 5.8 trillion globally—a 9% QoQ and 40% YoY rise—reflecting accelerating internet usage.
Regional Cyberthreat Breakdown:
- North America (NAMER): 1.5 billion threats blocked daily (up 18% YoY, down 12% QoQ)
- Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA): 62.7 billion daily threats blocked (up 22% YoY, down 16% QoQ)
- Asia-Pacific (APAC): 57.4 billion threats blocked daily (up 24% YoY, down 29% QoQ)
- Latin America (LATAM): 19 billion threats blocked daily (up 15% YoY, down 36% QoQ)
Saudi Arabia (KSA) Snapshot:
Internet traffic remained steady QoQ with 42.6 billion daily content requests, while cyberthreats dropped 6%. Daily cyberthreats blocked totaled 94 million—a sharp 76% QoQ decrease after an 890% spike in Q1 linked to targeted attacks on a Middle East training firm. Top targeted sectors include Internet, Consumer Goods, IT Services, and Airlines/Aviation. Defense focused on Web Application Firewall (WAF) rules (92%) and DDoS mitigation (8%), with HTTP Anomaly (20%), Cross-site Scripting (XSS, 10%), and Directory Traversal (8%) as the most active WAF rules.
United Arab Emirates (UAE) Snapshot:
The UAE saw a 15% increase in internet traffic and a 17% rise in mitigated cyberthreats QoQ, with 17.4 billion daily requests and 787 million blocked threats, mostly DDoS attacks. A total of 1 billion cyberthreats were blocked daily, a 63% QoQ increase. Leading sectors targeted include Retail, Consumer Services, BFSI, and Information Services. Defenses were evenly split between DDoS mitigations (50%) and WAF rules (49%), with HTTP Anomaly (16%), SQL Injection (SQLi, 9%), and XSS (6%) dominating.
