MTN Group has partnered with UAE-based consultancy Agility Arabia to execute a landmark Agile transformation within its Global Sourcing and Supply Chain (GSSC) division, revolutionizing procurement across its 16 African markets serving over 291 million customers. The initiative aimed to simplify complex operations, accelerate time to market, and extract greater value from procurement.
Agility Arabia was chosen for its expertise in Agile procurement and regional presence, introducing a Lean Agile Procurement (LAP) framework that replaced traditional waterfall methods with adaptive, iterative delivery. The transformation involved comprehensive capability building, live coaching, and restructuring teams into Agile squads.
The project leveraged Agility Arabia’s 23-point Agile performance assessment to track progress, along with continuous training programs such as weekly “Breakfast & Learn” sessions and upskilling Scrum Masters. Over 80% of MTN’s organisation engaged actively in Agile practices.
Andrew Savage, Global Lead for Procurement Excellence at MTN, highlighted that the transformation led to a 55% reduction in strategic RFP cycle times and doubled the Agile Net Promoter Score within three months, demonstrating significant operational improvements and stakeholder satisfaction.
