KALRO Partners with SatSure Analytics India to Boost Agricultural Productivity in Kenya

The Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organisation (KALRO), a premier research institution focused on improving agricultural productivity and rural development in Kenya, has entered into a strategic partnership with SatSure Analytics India, a leading Earth Observation (EO) data refinery platform. This collaboration aims to transform Kenya’s agricultural sector through the use of advanced satellite data and analytics.

By combining SatSure’s expertise in Earth observation and artificial intelligence with KALRO’s extensive research capabilities, the partnership will enable data-driven decision-making to enhance crop monitoring, yield forecasting, soil health assessments, and climate resilience strategies. This integration will provide actionable insights that benefit government agencies, agribusinesses, and farmers alike.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SatSure and KALRO sets the stage for pilot projects, joint research initiatives, and the development of digital tools designed to support agricultural stakeholders in Kenya. Through these efforts, the partnership seeks to increase agricultural resilience and contribute significantly to the country’s food security goals.

Dhruva Rajan, Chief Revenue Officer at SatSure, commented, “This strategic partnership marks a significant step towards enabling data-driven policymaking, strengthening food security, and empowering smallholder farmers with near-real-time insights into crop health, weather variability, and sustainable practices.”

Salim Kinyimu, ICT Director at KALRO, added, “Our partnership with SatSure aligns with our vision of integrating technology into agricultural research and extension services. By harnessing satellite-based analytics, we can better understand climate impacts, optimise resource utilisation, and empower farmers with precise, timely information.”
