ZTE and Beeline Kazakhstan have unveiled Giga City 2.0 – Green and AI New Era, a next-generation initiative showcasing advancements in smart, eco-friendly telecommunications as part of Kazakhstan’s ongoing digital transformation. Building on the success of the original Giga City project launched in 2024, the event highlighted several joint pilot projects designed to enhance network quality, implement green technologies, and develop smart urban infrastructure.
A key milestone is the installation of Kazakhstan’s first Magic Pole smart infrastructure solution in central Astana. Developed jointly by Beeline Kazakhstan and ZTE, the Magic Pole combines a mobile base station with street lighting, optimizing network coverage in dense urban areas while supporting smart city services. Its sleek design integrates seamlessly into the cityscape.
Another major initiative includes deploying autonomous mast-mounted units along the Astana-Borovoe national highway, powered solely by a hybrid renewable energy system integrating solar panels and wind turbines. This off-grid solution ensures operational autonomy and reliable signal coverage even in remote areas, while minimizing environmental impact. Its success sets the stage for similar deployments along other major Kazakh highways.
Kaan Terzioglu, CEO of VEON Group, said, “The technologies unveiled today respond to Kazakhstan’s soaring demand for high-quality connectivity everywhere, powering services that reach every corner of this vast country. We thank ZTE and our partners for their collaboration, enabling us to lead in customer experience.”
Xu Ziyang, CEO of ZTE Corporation, added, “Real progress is rooted in collaboration. Together with Beeline Kazakhstan and VEON, we are proud to integrate innovations that drive Kazakhstan’s digital future. Giga City 2.0 combines green tech, AI, and smart infrastructure to transform urban connectivity and sets a regional benchmark for digitization.”
