SLT-MOBITEL Champions Innovation and Next-Gen Tech Talent at SLIoT Challenge 2025

SLT-MOBITEL, Sri Lanka’s National ICT Solutions Provider, reaffirmed its commitment to innovation and youth empowerment by celebrating emerging tech talent at the SLIoT Challenge 2025, the country’s premier Internet of Things (IoT) competition. The event concluded with a successful Grand Finale and Awards Ceremony held at the University of Moratuwa.

Sponsored by SLT-MOBITEL and organized by the University of Moratuwa’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering in partnership with the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL), the competition attracted hundreds of students and professionals nationwide. Participants competed across school, university, and open categories, presenting innovative IoT solutions addressing real-world problems and advancing Sri Lanka’s digital transformation.

SLT-MOBITEL’s support extended beyond sponsorship, including preparatory activities such as a hands-on workshop on Microcontrollers and IoT Basics at the University of Moratuwa. Delivered by industry experts and undergraduate mentors, the workshop provided students with foundational IoT knowledge and programming skills, inspiring future innovators.

SLT-MOBITEL Chairman Mothilal De Silva, alongside senior officials, attended the awards ceremony, praising participants’ dedication and congratulating winners for their creativity and technical excellence.

In the School Category, Neuroverse from Galahitiyawa Central College won first place, followed by Sentinel from St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, and Senuka from R/Emb/Bodhiraja College. The University Category was dominated by teams from the University of Moratuwa: Zypher took first place, Dyson Sphere second, and Aqua Guard third. In the Open Category, Smartcare from Kalutara won first place, with Tech Tanks from Gampaha second, and TeraNode from Galle third.

SLT-MOBITEL will continue to support winners with technical and business mentorship, complimentary SLT Data Centre hosting, access to mSpace APIs, and promotional opportunities on PeoTV and other media channels for one year. This comprehensive assistance aims to transform promising IoT innovations into commercially viable solutions, driving Sri Lanka’s digital economy forward.
