Morocco and DWTC Strengthen Partnership to Drive Africa’s Digital Leadership

In Rabat, Morocco’s Digital Development Agency (ADD) and the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) reaffirmed their commitment to advancing Africa’s role in the global digital economy. ADD Director General Amine El Mezouaghi welcomed DWTC Executive Vice President Trixie LohMirmand, also CEO of Kaoun International, for discussions that deepened their strategic collaboration.

The meeting reflected on the success of the first three editions of GITEX Africa Morocco and set the course for its upcoming fourth edition. El Mezouaghi described the event as a strategic platform that empowers startups, attracts investors, and positions Africa as a driver of the digital future—aligning with Morocco’s Digital Morocco 2030 strategy and its vision for sustainable development, structural transformation, and South-South cooperation.

GITEX Africa 2025 attracted over 52,000 visitors, marking a 16% increase from the previous year. It featured 1,450 exhibitors from 138 countries, including 740 startups—260 of them Moroccan. The Moroccan government funded participation costs for more than 200 local companies, underscoring its commitment to fostering a vibrant tech ecosystem.

Both sides agreed that GITEX Africa is more than an annual event—it is a catalyst for an inclusive, interconnected, and sovereign African digital space. The strategy also includes deploying 5G and building digital infrastructure to support Morocco’s economy and its role as co-host of the FIFA World Cup 2030.

With mutual trust and complementary expertise, ADD and DWTC aim to make GITEX Africa Morocco a lasting showcase of innovation, economic opportunity, and technological leadership for the continent.
