Egypt Strengthens ICT Sector with Expanding Outsourcing, Electronics, and 5G Plans

Egypt’s ICT sector is accelerating, with 74 outsourcing firms pledging to employ 60,000 specialists between 2022 and 2024. The country now hosts more than 260 outsourcing centers, including 190 operated by global companies. Its electronics design industry has also grown, with 83 companies in 2025 and plans to reach 120 by 2028.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat highlighted Egypt’s top regional ranking in attracting ICT start-up investment during a high-level meeting chaired by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfik, and senior officials were also in attendance.

Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy confirmed that President El-Sisi reviewed a detailed report on upgrading telecom infrastructure to boost efficiency, expand coverage, and improve service quality. The President instructed continued investment in network capacity, accelerated 5G adoption, and the deployment of cutting-edge technologies.

Minister Talaat also presented achievements in outsourcing, electronics design, and investment attraction, reinforcing Egypt’s role as a regional ICT leader. President El-Sisi reaffirmed state support for the sector, calling for new initiatives and the creation of advanced training centers to prepare skilled talent. He stressed transparency in recruitment, investment in AI research and innovation, and the development of actionable national strategies for sustainable digital growth.
