Zain Kuwait Launches AI-Powered Digital Assistant for Wireless Site Engineers

Zain Kuwait has become the first operator in the region to deploy an AI-powered Digital Assistant for Wireless Site Engineers, marking a breakthrough in operations and maintenance within its technical infrastructure. The innovation, developed in partnership with Huawei, reflects Zain’s strategy to accelerate digital transformation, enhance service quality, and reinforce its leadership in the ICT sector.

The new tool, called FME Mate, leverages advanced large language model (LLM) technology to analyze network faults, identify root causes, and propose instant repair solutions. With natural language interaction, site engineers can bypass complex system commands, quickly accessing fault data and connection topologies. This upgrade is expected to improve fault-handling efficiency by more than 20% in around 90% of cases, while reducing site downtime by over 2,250 hours annually.

Daaij Al-Oud, Chief Technology Officer of Zain Kuwait, highlighted the launch as a “pivotal step toward building smarter, more efficient, and more reliable networks,” adding that AI integration will boost service quality and readiness to support Kuwait’s ambition of becoming a regional hub for the digital economy.

The deployment underscores Zain Kuwait’s role as a pioneer in adopting generative AI to optimize telecom operations. Beyond improving fault management, the digital assistant sets new benchmarks for intelligent maintenance, paving the way for future smart applications across Zain’s network. The initiative aligns with the company’s vision to drive digital transformation in Kuwait and the region through advanced technologies and strategic partnerships.
