BA Group and Berexia Launch SoftPOS Payment Solution in Morocco with Al Barid Bank and Royal Air Maroc

Prague, Czech Republic – August 20, 2025 — IBA Group and Berexia payment, in partnership with Al Barid Bank and Royal Air Maroc (RAM), have announced the launch of a SoftPOS solution in Morocco, marking the first major milestone of their strategic cooperation in Africa.

The solution, powered by IBA Group’s tapXphone technology, enables secure contactless payments directly via smartphones and tablets. At Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, travelers can now pay for services such as preferred seats, lounge access, or cabin upgrades by tapping their bankcard or smartphone at dedicated counters located in check-in, transit, and boarding areas. Trained agents are available to assist passengers with the new service.

Sami Metwali, Head of Products & Solutions at Berexia payment, said, “This launch marks the first successful business case of our joint work with IBA Group. The project demonstrates how innovative payment technologies can modify the transport and travel sector.”

Royal Air Maroc’s CEO, Abdelhamid Addou, highlighted that the initiative is part of a broader digital transformation program designed to enhance the customer journey and strengthen Casablanca’s role as a regional air hub. Meanwhile, Al Amine Nejjar, Chairman of Al Barid Bank, emphasized the bank’s commitment to innovation and simplifying the lives of citizens and travelers through digital payments.

The initiative at Casablanca airport is only the beginning, with expansion plans already underway, including deployment at Paris Orly Airport. IBA Group served as the technical consultant for the project, ensuring smooth implementation of tapXphone as the backbone of the solution.
