The Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Bangladesh has engaged in discussions with the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on strengthening data protection, cybersecurity, and advancing the country’s digital economy.
The talks were led by EU Ambassador to Bangladesh Michael Miller and BTRC Chairman Major General (retd) Md Emdad ul Bari. Ambassador Miller underlined the importance of safeguarding fundamental rights while encouraging innovation and attracting greater EU investment.
He also pointed to opportunities in broadband expansion, 5G rollout, and last-mile connectivity, reaffirming the EU’s support for Bangladesh’s vision of a secure, inclusive, and future-ready digital landscape.
Both sides agreed to continue close cooperation, with the EU pledging technical expertise under its Global Gateway strategy to help build a safer, more open, and better-connected digital Bangladesh.
