Zong and Huawei Boost Pakistan’s 4G with GigaAAU FDD Massive MIMO Deployment

Zong, Pakistan’s leading 4G operator, in collaboration with Huawei, has rolled out the GigaAAU FDD Massive MIMO solution across its network. The deployment has delivered significant gains, including a 150% increase in average downlink traffic and over 330% improvement in user experience.

Zong has consistently prioritized innovation, having been the first to launch 4G in Pakistan, and continues to invest in cloud and digital services to meet rising customer demand. Over the past three years, its active 4G users have grown by 57% and data traffic by 58%, underscoring the urgent need for expanded capacity and efficiency.

Huawei’s GigaAAU FDD Massive MIMO, supporting dual bands (1.8G and 2.1G) with 480W transmission power, delivers three to four times the downlink capacity of LTE 4T4R systems. Its advanced features—such as enhanced beamforming, intelligent interference avoidance, and “0 bit 0 watt” energy-saving technology—help reduce congestion, optimize performance, and minimize power consumption during off-peak hours.

As strategic partners, Zong and Huawei are setting new benchmarks in Pakistan’s telecommunications sector, driving greener, high-capacity networks that support the country’s accelerating digital transformation.
