Kathmandu – Telecommunication equipment, readymade garments, machinery and parts, textiles, and electrical goods were the top five products Nepal imported from China in the 2024–25 fiscal year, according to data released by the Nepal Rastra Bank. These categories together accounted for nearly 37% of Nepal’s total imports from China, which reached 341.1 billion Nepali rupees by mid-July.
Telecommunication equipment led the list at 30.73 billion rupees, with smartphones alone valued at 24.91 billion rupees. Readymade garments followed at 28.08 billion rupees, while imports of machinery and parts totaled 23.90 billion rupees. Textiles and electrical goods reached 21.97 billion rupees and 21.34 billion rupees, respectively.
China continues to hold its position as Nepal’s second-largest trading partner after India, underscoring the depth of economic ties between the two neighbors.
