Chinese technology giant Huawei and Kuwait Network Electronic Technology Company (Knetco) have successfully completed the nationwide deployment of 5G Advanced (5G-A) across Kuwait, covering all three major operators—Ooredoo, Zain, and stc. The upgrade delivers faster speeds, ultra-low latency, and greater capacity, setting the stage for next-generation digital services.
Knetco, an official contractor of Kuwait’s Ministry of Communications, led the rollout from infrastructure preparation to system integration. The deployment is closely aligned with Kuwait Vision 2035, which identifies digital infrastructure as a cornerstone of economic diversification and modernization.
5G Advanced promises speeds up to ten times faster than existing 5G networks, enhanced network capacity, and ultra-reliable low-latency performance. These capabilities will support applications including smart cities, industrial automation, advanced mobility, drone operations, Li-Fi communication, and new security solutions.
Knetco CEO Khaled Samy Hall stated: “The arrival of 5G Advanced will transform how Kuwait communicates, operates, and innovates. Our partnership with Huawei ensures that this cutting-edge technology delivers lasting benefits to every sector from government services to individual consumers.”
The rollout is not only a leap forward in connectivity but also a foundation for 6G evolution. It reflects Kuwait’s ambition to lead in digital transformation while joining a select group of countries adopting 5G-A globally. According to the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA), only six operators worldwide have commercially launched 5G-A networks to date, with Kuwait now added to that pioneering list.
