NPC Concludes Data Summer Camp 2025, Empowering Qatar’s Youth in Digital Innovation

Doha, August 28 (QNA) — The National Planning Council (NPC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Youth (MSY) and the Qatar Scientific Club (QSC), has successfully concluded the Data Summer Camp 2025, a five-day program designed to equip young people with advanced data and digital skills in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

The camp brought together 125 participants, offering them the opportunity to explore Qatar’s Open Data Portal, which hosts more than 1,100 datasets across economic, social, and service sectors. Through hands-on workshops, interactive dashboards (Microsoft Power BI), smart applications, and AI-driven predictive models, participants developed innovative solutions that connected real-world challenges with modern digital tools.

Celebrating Innovation and Talent

At the closing ceremony, the top three winning teams in both the high school and university categories were honored:

  • High School Category
    • 🥇 Team Mesaieed — Solar energy solutions for households to reduce gas consumption and support renewable energy.
    • 🥈 Team Smaisma — Water waste prevention solutions, with datasets to raise awareness.
    • 🥉 Team Al Sadd — Analysis of students with disabilities and the staff supporting them.
  • University Category
    • 🥇 Team Tamkeen — A platform for persons with disabilities to reduce employment gaps.
    • 🥈 Team Al Khor — Analysis of national databases to identify major greenhouse gas emissions and electricity consumption, recommending renewable energy integration.
    • 🥉 Team Reginald — Linking import/export data with CO₂ emissions databases for targeted environmental analysis.

Preparing Qatar’s Digital Future

Maha Rashid Al Mattwi, Director of the National Data Affairs Department at NPC, emphasized the camp’s role in building a generation skilled in statistical analysis, AI, and data-driven innovation.

“The Data Summer Camp is an important step toward preparing a new generation capable of understanding the language of numbers, analyzing data, and transforming information into tools for development and innovation,” she said.

She added that nurturing young talent and equipping them with digital transformation tools is vital to nation-building and realizing Qatar’s ambitious vision.
