Syria and Saudi Arabia Hold Talks to Expand Cooperation in Education, Telecom, and Trade

Damascus, August 28, 2025 (SANA) — A Syrian government delegation met with a Saudi delegation at the Syrian Investment Agency to explore investment opportunities and strengthen future cooperation in education, telecommunications, and trade.

The high-level meeting included Syria’s ministers of finance, economy, industry, education, higher education, and communications, alongside Abdullah al-Dubaikhi, Saudi Assistant Minister of Investment; Mohammed bin Abdullah Abunayyan, Chairman of the Saudi-Syrian Business Council; and leading Saudi investors.

Key Areas of Cooperation

  • Education: Plans to expand access for underserved students through digital platforms and enhance the quality of technical and digital content.
  • Telecommunications: Opportunities for investment in modern infrastructure to improve connectivity and support Syria’s digital transformation.
  • Trade: Review of new projects within Syria’s investment map, identifying sectors for Saudi participation and joint ventures.

The session highlighted Syria’s commitment to creating an investor-friendly environment and Saudi Arabia’s interest in supporting economic recovery and digital innovation in key development sectors.
