du Launches First Arabic Telecom Large Language Model with Global Partners

Dubai – du, the UAE-based telecom and digital services provider, has announced the launch of the world’s first Arabic Telecom Large Language Model (LLM), in collaboration with Microsoft, Nokia, Khalifa University’s 6G Research Centre, and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). This cross-sector initiative integrates global technology expertise, regional research leadership, and international policy guidance to create a telecom-focused AI model tailored for Arabic.

The du Arabic Telecom LLM is designed specifically for internal telecom operations, enhancing process efficiency and supporting the UAE’s vision for sovereign AI. By enabling real-time customer complaint handling, device troubleshooting, and operational insights, the model provides culturally fluent and context-aware dialogue that reflects the linguistic and cultural nuances of the UAE.

Saleem AlBlooshi, Chief Technology Officer at du, said: “du Arabic Telecom LLM reflects our commitment to improving internal efficiency and customer experiences using advanced, culturally attuned solutions. Together with our esteemed partners, Microsoft, Nokia, Khalifa University and ITU, we are building a future where AI speaks our language, understands our context, and drives real operational transformation and impactful customer experiences.”

Developed entirely in the UAE, the model aligns with national language and cultural standards, ensuring accurate and meaningful application across critical infrastructure. While its first use cases focus on internal operations, du and its partners aim to extend the model’s scope to customer-facing applications and multilingual support, paving the way for broader sectoral innovation.

The collaboration positions du’s Arabic Telecom LLM as a benchmark for localized, responsible AI applications in the global telecom industry, while reinforcing the UAE’s leadership in next-generation digital transformation.
