Iraq’s Southern Technical University Launches IT and AI Training Lab

Southern Technical University has inaugurated a new Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence training laboratory in partnership with Smart Cloud Group, aiming to boost Iraq’s digital capabilities and align education with global transformation trends.

The lab, opened under the patronage of Higher Education Minister Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, is designed to equip students and graduates with advanced IT and AI skills, improve the academic environment, and prepare a workforce ready to meet labor market demands.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials, including MP Dr. Yaseen Hassan Thaher, Basra Deputy Governor Hassan Al-Najjar, and representatives from WUSC Canada. University leaders emphasized the importance of the initiative in fostering digital innovation, research, and sustainable economic development.

Smart Cloud Group highlighted that the lab represents a strategic collaboration between academia and industry, ensuring that Iraq’s youth gain practical expertise in emerging technologies while contributing to the country’s broader modernization goals.
