UAE Launches QuantumConnect to Secure Data Against Future Quantum Threats

The Technology Innovation Institute (TII), the applied research arm of Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), together with ATRC’s venture builder VentureOne and technology group e&, has introduced QuantumConnect, a next-generation encryption solution designed to transform secure communications in the UAE.

Powered by TII’s proprietary quantum key distribution (QKD) technology, QuantumConnect leverages quantum physics to protect data as it moves across networks. Unlike traditional methods, QKD transmits encryption keys as quantum particles that cannot be intercepted or replicated without detection, ensuring secure key exchanges even against the looming risks of quantum computing.

Developed entirely in the UAE, the solution ensures compliance with national and industry regulations, including the UAE’s new Cryptography Executive Regulation. QuantumConnect integrates seamlessly into existing fibre infrastructure, offering scalable, hardware-embedded protection that strengthens resilience from the connectivity level up.

The technology is particularly suited for highly regulated industries such as finance, healthcare, and government, where sensitive data demands robust defence. Early deployments have already demonstrated improvements in security and operational confidence for business clients.

By embedding QKD at the infrastructure level, QuantumConnect provides future-proof encryption, ensuring organisations remain protected as quantum computing advances and data volumes expand. The solution marks a significant milestone in the UAE’s efforts to lead in secure digital innovation.
