UAE’s TII, VentureOne, and e& Launch QuantumConnect for Next-Generation Secure Communications

The Technology Innovation Institute (TII), the applied research arm of Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), together with ATRC’s venture builder VentureOne and technology group e&, has unveiled QuantumConnect, a hardware-based encryption solution designed to transform secure communications in the UAE.

QuantumConnect leverages TII’s proprietary quantum key distribution (QKD) technology, embedding encryption hardware directly into fibre infrastructure. Unlike conventional methods, QKD transmits encryption keys as quantum particles, which cannot be intercepted or copied without detection. This provides a defence against both current and future threats, including the ability of quantum computers to break traditional encryption.

Developed locally, the solution ensures compliance with UAE’s Cryptography Executive Regulation, giving organisations a security framework tailored to national and industry requirements. It offers physically impenetrable encryption at the connectivity level, guaranteeing resilience for mission-critical communications across finance, healthcare, government, and other regulated sectors.

TII emphasises that QuantumConnect is designed for scalability and seamless integration into existing fibre-based networks. Early live deployments have already demonstrated significant improvements in data protection and operational confidence, positioning the UAE at the forefront of quantum-secure communications.
