Zamtel reaffirmed its role as a key driver of digital education in Zambia through its sponsorship of the EdTech & AI Indaba 2025, held earlier today. The event convened policymakers, educators, and innovators to shape the future of learning in the digital era.
At the Indaba, Zamtel highlighted its nationwide investment in digital infrastructure, including a major upgrade of its 4G and 5G network. The project covers 1,200 sites, with 160 already live and 600 expected to be completed by December 2025. This initiative is aimed at connecting schools, students, and teachers to faster, more reliable digital platforms.
Complementing these upgrades, Zamtel is also using its mobile money platform, Zamtel Money, to make e-learning more inclusive by enabling affordable digital payments for educational tools and services. The goal is to ensure wider access to quality digital education across the country.
The event was attended by Education Minister Hon. Douglas Syakalima and Technology and Science Minister Hon. Felix Mutati, alongside key stakeholders from the education and technology sectors.
Zamtel’s initiatives align with a broader national strategy to strengthen Zambia’s digital backbone for education, equipping students with the tools to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
