Saudi Arabia’s National Greening Program Deploys Mobile Lab to Boost Afforestation

Riyadh – The National Greening Program is advancing Saudi Arabia’s environmental sustainability goals under the Saudi Green Initiative, which aims to plant 10 billion trees. A new mobile lab has been introduced to improve the efficiency and quality of afforestation efforts, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The lab performs on-site analyses of soil, water, and plants while monitoring key environmental factors such as humidity and plant health. By delivering real-time data, it supports faster and more accurate decision-making, enhancing seedling success rates, minimizing losses, and reducing costs.

All collected data is instantly connected to the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification databases, ensuring integrated monitoring and informed policy execution.

This technological step is critical to achieving the rehabilitation of 40 million hectares of land, combating desertification, and reinforcing the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 commitment to sustainability and ecological resilience.
