Saudi Arabia has carried out its first-ever trial of drone deliveries for postal parcels, a move that underscores the Kingdom’s push to modernise logistics and embrace advanced technologies. The pilot initiative, announced by the Saudi Press Agency, is a collaboration between the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and the Transport General Authority (TGA).
Officials described the trial as a milestone in reshaping delivery services. Rumaih Al Rumaih, Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, said the project would “open new horizons” for innovative logistics solutions and expand delivery options across the country.
The initiative is closely tied to the Vision 2030 agenda, which aims to transform Saudi Arabia into a global hub for logistics and digital innovation. By using drones, the project seeks to improve transport efficiency, shorten delivery times, and provide safer and more sustainable parcel delivery.
Authorities noted that the trial forms part of a larger strategy to integrate emerging technologies into daily life, further enhancing the Kingdom’s competitiveness in transport and logistics while supporting environmental sustainability.
