Morocco’s leading telecom operators, Maroc Telecom (IAM) and Inwi (Wana Corporate), have announced the official launch of their joint ventures Uni Fiber and Uni Tower, designed to accelerate the rollout of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and 5G infrastructure across the Kingdom.
The initiative stems from an agreement signed on March 27 between the two operators, which received approval from the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) on June 18. According to the joint press release, the new ventures aim to significantly expand nationwide broadband access.
Uni Fiber will manage the rollout of passive infrastructure for FTTH, targeting 1 million connections within two years and 3 million within five years. Uni Tower, on the other hand, will focus on building and upgrading telecom towers, with a goal of 2,000 towers in three years and 6,000 towers in ten years.
The companies plan to invest MAD 4.4 billion during the initial three-year phase. Both ventures will provide open, transparent, and non-discriminatory access to infrastructure for all licensed operators, ensuring compliance with Moroccan telecom regulations.
The launch of Uni Fiber and Uni Tower is a major milestone in Morocco’s digital transformation journey, reinforcing efforts to extend high-speed internet and support 5G adoption nationwide.
