Egypt’s NTRA Showcases Digital Regulatory Leadership at Global Telecom Forum in Riyadh

The National Telecommunication Regulatory Agency of Egypt (NTRA) participated in the International Forum of Telecommunications Organizers (ITUGSR-25), hosted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Riyadh from August 31 to September 3, 2025. The Egyptian delegation was led by Eng. Muhammad Shamrukh, Executive Chairman of the NTRA, along with senior officials Eng. Amr Abbas and Ahmed Saeed.

In his keynote address, Shamrukh stressed the role of regulators in building sustainable digital ecosystems that balance rapid technological advancement with security, inclusivity, and user rights protection. He highlighted Egypt’s achievements, including the nationwide rollout of 5G services, adoption of IPv6, regulation of cloud computing and data centers to attract investment, and the establishment of an integrated cybersecurity framework aligned with global standards.

On the sidelines, the NTRA delegation held bilateral meetings with regulators from Saudi Arabia, the United States, and China. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Georgia’s National Telecommunications Authority to promote collaboration in digital regulation and knowledge exchange.

Talks were also held with senior leaders from global firms such as TikTok and Amazon to ensure their operations in Egypt remain compliant with national laws and cultural values.

The NTRA’s active participation underscored Egypt’s growing influence in international telecommunications governance and its commitment to fostering a secure, advanced, and investment-friendly digital environment.
