Saudi Arabia has unveiled a new mobile laboratory designed to transform environmental fieldwork and accelerate national afforestation and rehabilitation efforts. The facility, launched by the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification, will provide real-time environmental monitoring and analysis to support the Kingdom’s ambitious green goals, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The mobile unit enables teams to conduct on-site analysis of soil, water, and plants, helping identify factors affecting natural regeneration and improving the success of environmental rehabilitation projects. It also plays a key role in reducing seedling loss, ensuring greater efficiency in afforestation efforts.
This initiative directly supports the Kingdom’s plans to plant 10 billion trees and rehabilitate 40 million hectares of degraded land, key pillars of the Saudi Green Initiative. Officials noted that the laboratory will strengthen Saudi Arabia’s leadership in sustainable environmental solutions while boosting the effectiveness of large-scale restoration programs.
