Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and Zain Bahrain have announced a new agreement to expand mobile broadband capacity and coverage across the Kingdom of Bahrain, reinforcing Zain’s digital transformation journey and customer experience goals.
The expansion will leverage Ericsson’s latest Radio Access Network (RAN) products, including:
- Triple-band Radio 4823, which doubles uplink throughput using existing antennas.
- AIR 3285, a dual-band FDD Massive MIMO radio optimized for weight and size, simplifying rollouts at high-capacity sites.
- Triple low-band Radio 4486, designed to maximize low-band spectrum performance and enhance connectivity at the cell edge.
These solutions will help Zain Bahrain maximize its 4G and 5G spectrum allocation, improve user experience, and meet rising demand for high-speed connectivity.
Ammar Al-Ketbi, Acting CEO of Zain Bahrain, emphasized that the partnership is a step forward in providing the best digital experiences in Bahrain: “By investing in modern, sustainable infrastructure, we are ensuring that our customers—whether gamers, entrepreneurs, or enterprises—enjoy faster, more advanced solutions.”
Petra Schirren, President of Ericsson Gulf, highlighted the significance of the collaboration: “This expansion reflects our shared commitment to advancing digital infrastructure in the Kingdom and enabling Zain Bahrain to meet the growing demands of its customers while maintaining strong network performance.”
