An Iranian delegation of knowledge-based firms, supported by the Vice-Presidency for Science and Knowledge-Based Economy, will participate in the 4th International Telecommunications and Information Technology Exhibition and Conference (ITEX) in Baghdad, Iraq, from September 25–28, 2025.
The event will spotlight Iran’s strengths in telecommunications, information technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital solutions, providing a platform to enhance regional cooperation and advance digital services.
Strengthening Iran–Iraq Tech Collaboration
The participation follows ongoing discussions between Iranian ICT Minister Sattar Hashemi and Iraqi Ambassador Naseer Abdul Mohsen Abdullah on boosting bilateral technological ties. Both countries see ICT collaboration as vital to advancing cybersecurity, AI, e-government, and digital economy initiatives.
Hashemi emphasized the role of technological diplomacy, leveraging Iran’s infrastructure for international data transit and proposing joint investment in maritime fiber networks and a big data center in Iran. He also highlighted the need for enhanced communication networks during the annual Arbaeen pilgrimage.
Abdullah echoed Iraq’s commitment to expanding cooperation, citing ambitions to grow Iran–Iraq trade to $20 billion annually, with ICT forming a significant share of that expansion.
Regional Digital Ambitions
ITEX Iraq serves as a hub for ICT professionals and enterprises to exchange expertise, explore partnerships, and address sector challenges. For Iran, it is also an opportunity to project its knowledge-based companies as drivers of regional innovation while reinforcing Baghdad–Tehran cooperation on cybersecurity, AI adoption, and digital economy development.
