Bahrain’s Maritime e-Portal Records 10,000+ Transactions, Driving Digital Transformation

The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has announced that its e-portal system for small vessel registration and licensing has delivered strong results since launching in February. By early September, the system had processed more than 10,000 transactions, with over 53% of all maritime operations now handled digitally.

Bader Hood Al Mahmood, Undersecretary for Ports and Maritime Affairs, emphasized the system’s role in boosting operational efficiency, enhancing service delivery, and supporting the creation of a more sustainable maritime sector. He noted that the initiative aligns with Bahrain’s Government Plan (2023–2026) and the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, both of which prioritize digital transformation and innovation in public services.

The e-portal allows seafarers and boating enthusiasts to access a comprehensive range of services, including vessel registration and renewal, navigation permit issuance, ownership transfers, technical inspections, and certificate updates. It also covers registration plate print permits, deletion certificates, and replacement services for lost documents.

To further streamline processes, the system includes supporting features such as real-time application tracking, online payments, and issuance of digital certificates and licences authenticated with QR codes. These innovations simplify procedures, save time, and reduce administrative burdens, advancing Bahrain’s vision for a modern and efficient maritime sector.
