Zain Bahrain has announced a new agreement with Ericsson to deploy advanced Radio Access Network (RAN) solutions, including Massive MIMO radios, aimed at strengthening mobile broadband capacity and improving coverage across the Kingdom.
As part of the deal, Ericsson will supply a range of high-performance radio products and site enclosures. These include the triple-band Radio 4823, which doubles uplink throughput while reusing existing antennas; the AIR 3285, a lightweight dual-band FDD Massive MIMO radio; and the triple low-band Radio 4486, designed to enhance user experience at the cell edge.
The expansion is expected to optimize Zain Bahrain’s spectrum utilization and reinforce its network performance, paving the way for more advanced 4G and 5G services.
Ammar Al-Ketbi, Acting CEO of Zain Bahrain, described the initiative as a major step in providing best-in-class digital experiences for customers. “By investing in modern, sustainable infrastructure, we are ensuring that our customers—whether gamers, entrepreneurs, or enterprises—enjoy faster, more advanced solutions. This investment also lays the foundation for tomorrow’s digital services in the Kingdom,” he said.
Petra Schirren, President of Ericsson Gulf at Ericsson Europe, Middle East and Africa, emphasized the alignment with Zain Bahrain’s transformation goals, noting that the partnership would help meet growing customer demand while maintaining high network performance standards.
