Pakistan Inaugurates 26th ITCN Asia 2025, Vows Nationwide 5G Rollout

Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima Khawaja inaugurated the 26th edition of ITCN Asia 2025 in Karachi, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to digital transformation. She highlighted that the IT sector is growing at 20% annually, with a target to equip one million youth with IT skills this year and surpass $5 billion in annual IT exports.

Khawaja emphasized that steps are underway to resolve internet-related issues and ensure nationwide 5G access, beginning with an initial rollout in seven cities within months. She also noted IT’s central role in the recent Pakistan-Saudi agreement, adding that improved connectivity and digital reliability will drive economic sustainability.

The minister underscored Karachi’s importance as an economic hub and said Pakistan’s tech rankings are improving under the Digital Pakistan initiative, supported by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

ITCN Asia 2025, backed by SIFC and Tech Destination Pakistan, is expected to draw over 50,000 participants, including delegations from more than 25 countries. Building on last year’s $500 million worth of MoUs, this year’s event is attracting strong interest in AI, cybersecurity, and telecom sectors. More than 700 exhibitors, from global tech leaders to local startups, are showcasing innovations across fintech, edtech, and government tech zones.
